Recycling in Lisbon, Portugal

Recycling electrical equipment
During a recent visit to Lisbon, Portugal, I came across an interesting recycling deposit centre, located outside a local supermarket.

The Portuguese translates to:
In the larger container: Deposit Here SMALL EQUIPMENT Used Electric and Electronic...

The smaller container tells us: Deposit your Used Lamps here...

The engraved images gives and indication of the the intended equipment to be deposited.

It seems that the small electrical equipment we no longer need or that no longer function at home, can be deposited and someone refurbishes the Toaster, Kettle, Iron, Mixer, etc, etc, etc...

The recycling of lamps is of course more general and a preoccupation I have had for some time, relating to recycling disused fluorescent lamps.

It did cross my mind: It would be so wonderful to have a similar recycling centre in our schools in Johannesburg...
