Specifics on electricity tariffs…
- By: Ken Nunes
The article 2015/2016 Electricity and Water Tariff Increases of the 1st July, reported the general increases of electricity and water tariffs for the year 2015/2016.
This article is a little more specific in an effort to underline the need for efficiency.
Most schools (dependent on the size of the incoming electrical supply) have been “attributed” the BUSINESS TARIFF, which the City of Johannesburg Approved Tariffs 2014/2015 (Page 18) tell us: This tariff shall primarily be applicable to supply consumption capacities not exceeding 100 kVA for purposes other than the purposes specified in item 1 (which refers to Domestic Tariffs)…

The Municipality (COJ) document details “Blocks” where electricity costs increases with consumption. However, the Municipality Invoice details "Steps 1 to 5”, which appears to attributes percentages of consumption at each “Step”.
No reference is found in the Municipality documents relating to this and further explanation will be sought.
